Our Mission
Helping Parishes, Schools and Families grow young since 1938!
The Office for Youth Ministry was established in 1985 as the
principal Archdiocesan agency of Boston addressing the mission
of the Church as it relates to young people today. The Office
for Youth Ministry promotes the message and mission of Jesus
Christ among young people (early adolescence up to the later
teen years) through the pastoral ministry of the Roman Catholic
Church.
The Office for Youth Ministry supports the parishes in their
efforts to welcome and invite the young to faith in the Lord
Jesus and responsible participation in the life and mission of
the Church. In the pursuit of this mission to and with the young,
the Office for Youth Ministry advocates a Total Youth Ministry
which fosters a balanced and integrated approach to the Church's
role of proclaiming the word, offering worship, fostering community,
and rendering service in the name of Jesus.
The Office for Youth Ministry serves the parishes of the Archdiocese
of Boston through the support, resourcing, training, and empowerment of adult
and youth leaders. In this
effort, the Office for Youth Ministry prepares parish leadership
to offer direct ministry to the young on the local level.
